Technology

We are constantly updating our equipment to keep up with the latest technological advancements. In addition to our office equipment, we have incorporated the following tools:

invisalign® orthodonticsAberfoyle Dental now offers Invisalign®, a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom-made series of aligners created for you and only you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth. Wearing the aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact movements your dentist or orthodontist plans out for you.

Intraoral Cameras – Intraoral cameras enable both you and your dentist to view any tooth from all aspects. This pen-sized, camera-tipped wand type instrument is easy to manipulate for the dentist and unobtrusive to the patient. It takes a picture of the inside of your mouth and transmits the images via cable to a computing unit which in turn enlarges the picture and sends it to a screen for you and your dentist to view.

Digital Radiography – This is a recently introduced technique for taking X-rays with minimal exposure to the patient. It allows for instant viewing of pictures and allows for faster diagnosis. The pictures may be easily copied and e-mailed to another dentist for consultation.

Audio/Video Patient Education System – We strongly believe in patient education. We spend a lot of time with patients to ensure they understand our findings. This system is filled with pictures and examples of many types of dental problems and the required treatments. The patient can listen to treatment options and actually see what the final results will look like.

Hard Tissue Laser – The hard tissue laser is used in place of the drill to treat tooth cavities. The laser beam in combination with an energized water spray allows for removal of decay and bacteria without removing healthy tooth parts. The procedure is mostly pain free and freezing is not required.

Soft Tissue Laser – The soft tissue laser is used in various procedures on gingival and oral mucosa like frenectomies, grafts, reduction of gum inflammation, removal of bacteria, or excision of oral lesions. The procedure reduces postoperative bleeding and discomfort.

Zoom and Rembrandt Tooth Bleaching Lights – These are lights that are specially designed for fast in-office tooth whitening. Teeth can brighten as much as 10 shades and treatment can be repeated if necessary. This treatment requires dentist supervision.
